Therapy for Those Ready to Heal at a Deeper Level

Virtual Therapy Across Ontario with Bethany Mazereeuw, MSW, RSW

Sometimes talking is not enough. That is why I use evidence-based approaches including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and the Enneagram - methods that help you heal not just in your mind, but in your body and nervous system too. I offer regulated therapy within Ontario, and coaching worldwide.

EMDR - For Trauma, Anxiety, Feeling Hooked or Stuck

What is EMDR therapy and how does it work?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy that helps people process painful memories that feel stuck. Rather than talking through every detail of what happened, EMDR helps your brain finish processing experiences that got frozen in time. When that happens, the memory shifts from something that feels raw and present to something that belongs in the past.

“I thought I was over it… so why does it still hit me so hard?”

Sometimes, even after we've talked about an experience, made sense of it logically, and told ourselves to "move on," it still feels stuck — like it lives in our bodies, popping up in our reactions, our relationships, our dreams.

That’s where EMDR can help.

EMDR isn’t about rehashing every detail of what happened. Instead, it helps your brain finish the processing of painful memories that got “frozen” in time.
When that happens, the memory can shift from something that feels raw and present to something that happened in the past.

Clients often describe feeling lighter, more grounded, and less reactive -not because they have forgotten what happened, but because it no longer holds the same emotional charge. EMDR is available virtually to clients in Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph, Toronto, and across Ontario.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) - When You Feel Torn Inside

What is IFS therapy and what happens in a session?

IFS (Internal Family Systems) is a therapy approach that helps you get curious about the different 'parts' of yourself: the inner critic, the people-pleaser, the one who wants to rest, the one who keeps pushing. Rather than trying to get rid of these parts, IFS helps you understand what they are protecting. When you listen from a calmer, more compassionate place, those parts start to relax.

If you have ever feel like different “versions” of you are battling it out inside (e.g., one part wants to rest; another keeps pushing harder; one wants to eat; another says you “shouldn’t.”), IFS might be the right tool to help you understand your inner world better.

Many people describe feeling more spacious, grounded, and aligned, as if their inner world is finally working together rather than fighting itself. IFS therapy is available virtually across Ontario and Canada.

Enneagram - Understanding Why You Do What You Do

How is the Enneagram used in therapy?

The Enneagram is a personality framework that identifies nine core types, each with distinct patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. In therapy, I use the Enneagram not as a box to put you in, but as a doorway to deeper self-awareness, helping you understand the patterns that keep showing up in your relationships, your eating, your work, and your sense of self.

I will be honest: the Enneagram is one of my favourite tools. Not because it gives you a tidy label, but because for so many people it is the first time they have ever felt truly understood. That moment when a client learns about their type and says "I feel seen" is one of my favourite moments in this work. What I love most is that the Enneagram does not just describe who you are; it shows you where you are going. Understanding your type can make change feel less like a mystery and more like a map.
