Whether you have been carrying something for years or a recent change has knocked you sideways, I work with a range of issues that tend to show up together, especially for women in midlife. Here is what I can help with.
Stress and anxiety are the background noise many of us have just accepted as normal. But chronic stress reshapes our nervous systems, our relationships, and our bodies. Using EMDR, IFS, and coaching tools, I help you understand what is driving your anxiety and give you practical skills to respond differently.
If you have spent decades at war with your body (dieting, restricting, regaining, and trying again) that is not a willpower problem. That is diet trauma. As a body image therapist, I work with clients across Ontario and beyond to build a relationship with their body rooted in respect and curiosity rather than shame and control.
Food soothes, numbs, rewards, and comforts. There is nothing wrong with you for using it that way - it worked. But if eating is your primary coping tool and it is causing you distress (e.g., if you've regularly engaged in overeating or binge eating), we can explore what is underneath and build a fuller toolkit together.
This is one of my deepest areas of expertise, and one I know from the inside. I help clients understand the neuroscience of food addiction, navigate recovery with self-compassion, and build a sustainable relationship with food. Whether you are brand new to the idea that sugar might be an issue, or you have tried everything and still cannot stop, I understand. Together we can determine what's bringing you to the addiction, whether sobriety or abstinence or moderation is the best solution for you.
Trauma is not just what happened to you; it is what happened inside you as a result. Big events, but also the slow accumulation of smaller wounds: the criticism, the neglect, the messages about your body and your worth. EMDR and IFS are both highly effective for processing trauma at a deeper level, often better than talk therapy alone.
Parenting is one of the most triggering experiences we ever have - because it activates our own old wounds. I often say that our kids have a way of pointing out where we need to do our own work. Whether you are navigating a difficult season, struggling with a child's issues, or working on your own patterns so they do not get passed on, I can help.
I also work with: codependency and people-pleasing, relationship challenges, workplace stress and burnout, addictions including social media and shopping, time management and boundaries, decluttering physical stuff, and life transitions.
